Lost Love Essay

Lost Love Essay

I am sitting on the chair and thinking about her, my girl friend Sita, who is no longer alive. Outside the atmosphere is not so pleasant so my heart. It is dark evening and started to hurt as I think about her. More I think about her more I fell pain in my heart. I could not stand it. Love and relationships never hurt me like this. I can not believe on myself, why it happened to me?

I remember the day and how I met her. The first time we met in the park. She was walking with her dog at the park and I was on the way home after finishing my part time job in near by store. Suddenly, I noticed the beautiful attractive girl in the park with the dog. I never have seen her before in this park and area. So, I easily reached in conclusion that she must be the new in this area. When, I reached near to her, "Hi, beautiful dog. I have not seen you before. Are you new here?"

She stops and slowly turned to me and said, "Yes, we just moved from Katmandu and living just near that red house."

She added, "My name is Sita. What is yours?"

For a moment, our eyes see each other since both of us were going to the same direction. We started to talk way back home. I told about the town and area which was new for her. I did not realize that I have arrived in my house. To cut the conversation, I asked her, "What are you doing day after tomorrow."

She answered me. "I do not have any special plan but I am planning to go to the down town."

I told her, "Okay, I am also planning to go to the down town. If you do not mind then I can show you around."

When Friday came, I was very happy. When, I saw her coming to my house. I came out of my house and told her, "I am ready. Let's go."

The day was perfect and the person I was with made the date like heaven. After that, we started going out together so often and talked on the phone. One day, we decided to go for hiking for just two days. This is very common in Nepal at that time. To avoid the suspicious from the families, I told her why not we ask out 2, 3 friends to join with us. Day before leave for the hiking, I went to the shop to rent a sleeping bag for all of us and camping tent.

Next day, I left for a hiking with Sita and other friends. After walking straightly 4 hours up in the hill, I was so tired and hungry that I decided to set up a camp just out side the village. Together, all of us set up a camp and cooked food. When I was having a food other group members purpose me to go down to the village to see this village is so popular among the westerner. But I was not in mood to go down to the village.

I told them. "You guys go ahead. I am tired. I will stay behind."

I stay behind with Sita in the camp just kissing and talking. At that time, the only thing I was hoping for was that this moment would never end. When I looked into her soft black eyes, I was completely under her spell. We would stare into each other and talked about the future plans. I spent that 2 days hiking program talking each other away from home.

The spring flew by faster then hiking and camping trip. When school started my feelings had increased. Even though, I was busy in my own study and at the school activities. It did not affect my feelings and relationship towards her. Then came New Year, I decided to celebrate differently in my friend Ravi's place instead to going to the Hotel. On New Year day, I with Sita went to the Ravi's place where all the friends were come and celebrating.

Before the New Year celebration day, Ravi announced all the friends. "Alcohol is not allowed." However, on the New Year day, some of the boys drank outside and came in the party. But Ravi and I did not give attention who was drunk and who is sober. After the party, I decide to stay behind and clean-up the Ravi's place. I was just happy that the cleaning was over and I could go home.

I took a taxi to come back home. While I was coming back home, I looked at her and asked her."Do you promise me you'll never leave me?"

She answered me softly with smile on her face, "Yes, I will never leave you."

When we left, it was already 1.30 a.m. Taxi was heading to the home. Weather was not so good, road was slippery due to the rain. When taxi reached the roundabout, all of sudden, I heard bang noise as our taxi collided with other vehicle. Which was coming from other direction? After that, I do not remember. When I opened my eyes- I was in the hospital bed. I looked at the left and right side of my bed. I did not see anybody. I called nurse and asked impatiently, "where is Sita?"

But the nurse told me to take rest and do not talk and stressed myself. When I pressured her about Sita, the nurse told, "I'm sorry, your friend did not made here. She died on the accident and she was already death when medical team arrived at the accident scene."

I remember the promise, which I made to her at the last moment. More I remembered more I felt pain in my heart and faster tear comes out. The relatives and friends come forward to calm me down. I just looked on the ceiling and remember each and every moment I spent with her.

Essay on Alexander McQueen

Essay on Alexander McQueen

Born in London in 1969, leaving school at 16, Alexander McQueen stepped into the world of fashion. Creating and manipulating his unique designs with his talented skills, McQueen mastered 6 methods of pattern cutting from the 16th century and tailoring skills which today have given his McQueen signature. Also dubbed "enfant terrible" by the fashion press.

Receiving British Designer of the Year in 2001, 1996 and 1997 and also the recipient of many more awards, Alexander McQueen is recognised as one of the most successful talents in the fashion industry and is known world-wide.

McQueen and His Collection

Unique designs, stunning effects, powerful collections and a revolutionary designer. Put it together and you have Alexander McQueen! Varied views are shared among us from newspapers, fashion press to the internet fashion sites. Not always are the views good but a view is always present when it comes to Alexander McQueen. Some might say he was like Marmite, "You either love it, or hate it."

Styles the "Enfant terrible" have brought to us are varied every season but just as exhilarating as his last flair. As we see here is an outfit from the Spring/Summer 2003 collection which is a mixture of flimsy frills and tough leather or P.V.C. To me i would regard this as a typical McQueen signature because of the powerful colours like chocolate browns and calm creams which i think produces a nature on the model.

This glitzy vest and skirt is also another Spring/Summer 2003 style, unlike the first outfit, this one would be more likely to be seen on the streets because of it's Summer explosion and brighter colours and lighter fabrics. The sexy outfit lights up a dark street and leaves its statement of energy.

Along side is an A/W 1997-1998, titled "It's A Jungle Out There" focused on animal instincts and powered danger against a derelict urban environment as McQueen's influences. Made from traditional fabrics - Suede/leather looking animal skin jacket produced in a light brown possible reflecting a animal colour. Along with tight tie died trousers to show that jungle that is out there.

McQueen and Givenchy

Alexander McQueen silenced and dazzled Paris with his first show for Givenchy combining his mastered tailoring skills and his hard-edged street style. McQueen prepared ten collections a year for Givenchy, while continuing his own label. On the left, you can see a typical piece of McQueen's work, this outfit is a really admiring piece, an intelligent form of contrast between hard and soft textures in produced here. Along side is this intellectual suit McQueen produced for Givenchy, it is very sharp and parallel unlike his own style.

Verdict

In my opinion Alexander McQueen is a unique, stubborn and a satisfying designer. His work is somewhat in "trend", altered and duplicated to evoke this sensual birth. For this, I like and admire McQueen and his style.

My findings have entertained and intrigued me- McQueen's first collection for Givenchy slated even by himself, "I know it was crap," he told US Vogue in October 1997. But at the same timed has inspired many people over the world.

Defiantly regarded as a, "one of a kind," McQueen reflects many of his designs on conflicting appearances which brings me to show what I think might be one of his most unusual yet elegant designs I have seen.

"Tragic shipwrecked banshee - frail tulle combined with gilt piping that decorates heavy melton jackets and trousers. A pregnant skinhead and vogue fashion editor model together."

I have also noticed how every single style is so dramatic, McQueen seeps at your eyes as they sink into the design provoking thoughts and ideas again and again.

Are McQueen's designs showing his true personality? Does this bring out the REAL Alexander McQueen? I Would answer "yes" to both because without showing personality and a sense of mortality then designs like these could not be created.

Short Essay on Honesty is the Best Policy

Honesty is the Best Policy Essay Sample

I was shocked to read in a newspaper, recently, that many youngsters see nothing particularly wrong in shoplifting; fiddling Social Security; attacks on property; taking a car for a joyride; insulting or bothering strangers; prostitution and smoking cannabis. This made me really think.

Is honesty the best policy? Why? Just what good does it do to be an honest and upright citizen? When you read reports of the number of people in positions of trust who use that very trust to enrich themselves, what does it say to the youngsters? "Don't get caught" is all. No one knows how much crime of a large scale goes undetected В so why not try it on a small scale? Just how many people fiddle their Income Tax, Social Security, their own firms? Where do you draw the line? Is it the size of an operation that makes it illegal? You know: a pen brought home from the office, a private call on the Firm's phone in the Firm's time, photocopying using the Firm's paper and machine В are these acceptable because they're so small? Never mind what justification you can think of for it, it is dishonest and we all do it to some extent. It is to our benefit to do so: so does honesty pay? If dishonesty pays for us older people, should we not expect it to pay for the youngsters as well?

Our Service Can Write a Custom Essay about Honesty
for You!

You might say "Crime causes feelings of guilt and fear of being found out". But does it? This may apply to someone engaged in large-scale crime who was originally law-abiding В but for petty things? Perhaps some people find that threat a fillip, an added spice to an otherwise dull existence. Perhaps they just do not feel guilty at all В how do we know? They're not going to go around telling anyone what they feel, are they? Guilt may well be the 'curse' of older folk brought up on the mores of honesty, disapproval of crime, and the belief that the criminal gets caught and punished and that therefore there is a degree of shame attached to wrongdoing. How much influence on adults' attitudes did the Church have? The awful threat that God could see everything that you did and would punish you severely for whatever you did wrong В how much effect did that have? For how long? Did there come a time when, after judicious experimenting, you realized that God wasn't bothered about your wrongdoing or maybe didn't even see it? Does this apply to youngsters today? The fear of chastisement from one or other of one's parents was quite a strong deterrent; I wonder just how much response children get from their parents these days. From what one sees of children's behavior at school, and young people's attitude at work, I don't think there can be much. In the past the police were a much greater influence, too. They could give summary discipline on the spot and the young offender would have to take it and learn from it. Can you imagine that happening today? The parents would most likely complain about police behavior, first! Think about shop-lifting and the way it sends up the cost of goods to the legitimate customer. Yet youngsters appear to think a small amount of shoplifting is OK. What makes them think this? Upon what do they base their judgement? Is it that they can't see that there is anything wrong, or do they get such a kick out of it it's worth the risks? Do they think they'll get off lightly if they're caught? All too often they will!

What about stealing through fiddling the Social Security or the taxman, or whatever amorphous 'department' you care to think of? There seems to be an attitude of it being a game and the best one wins: you win if you can get away with it and you lose if you can't and have to pay up. The untaxed 'cash payment' or the backhander; the plain omission of amount or information that would result in taxation; the payment in kind; or simple dishonesty and fraud, are all forms of stealing. There are enough legal loopholes as it is without having to defraud the DHSS or the IR or whoever. Yet this seems to be almost an acceptable thing. The same as avoiding paying car tax or TV licenses. The honest person pays through the nose for those who don't pay at all. There doesn't seem to be enough peer pressure to right or even to prevent these frauds; so if adults are behaving thus, how can one expect young people to be any different? Surely they are going to follow the examples set to them? Similarly with smoking cannabis: if their Pop Idols do so, why shouldn't they? How can one persuade them otherwise?

Prostitution is another thing youngsters see no harm in. (The newspaper report didn't say how many girls В as opposed to boys В gave this point of view.) Again they could be aping their elders. What sort of standards do we set them? How do they arrive at these opinions? Indeed, what knowledge or experience do they have to go on to form their opinions? Surely it is only hearsay В but I fear it may not be. Should they gain information of such things from the newspapers? (And how could one prevent them,?) It is something that they can read well enough to read a newspaper! Should items such as Cynthia Payne and her 'parties' be omitted from TV and papers? Do the kids give any thought to the ramifications of illicit sex? Probably not, alas. It would seem that a number of adults don't, either.

So far, to some extent, they are following in their elders' footsteps; but what about joy-riding in cars? This seems to me to be much more of a young person's activity than an older one's. Where do they get the idea that this is OK? Their attitude seems to be "What's yours is mine and what's mine is my own", and therefore they have as much right to another's possessions as they want В regardless of what it might mean to the owner. Is it "easy come, easy go" for their own belongings and so they see ownership in a different light from other people? Are they able to replace damaged goods so easily and uncaringly that it doesn't occur to them what more damage than intrinsic worth they are doing when they take a car or damage property? It may be a sign of growing older that one acquires chattels for the memories or pleasure they bring, which then makes them irreplaceable. Perhaps this is something young people have to grow into before they can realize what hurt they are causing by attacking property and effects. Until then, I suppose, it's just a game to them; a way of showing their worth, their 'derring-do' to their peers.

Also, according to the report, a large proportion of young people consider it trivial to insult or bother strangers В as long as they are not attacked sexually! They obviously have no idea how upsetting, frightening even, (and certainly unpleasant) such an experience is for the people so abused В whether men or women В and especially for older folk. This, again, seems to be something they've thought up for themselves В I hope! I can't imagine any circumstances by which they would learn this from adults. But why do they do it? What pleasure and satisfaction does it give them? I assume that it makes them feel big and important; that someone is taking notice of them; I can only assume they choose this way as it's the easiest and most immediate. I think this, again, is something that can best be dealt with by peer pressure В but can't think how it might be brought about.

How has this climate of dishonesty arisen? It is a recent phenomenon for the most part. From what I've read and heard, in the past, even in the poorest areas it was safe to leave one's door unlocked, whether one was in or out. Why has this changed? Is it because we now have so many moveable, saleable goods that there is more temptation? Is it because we make more show of what goods we have: a second TV, a third or fourth radio, a video recorder now, and so forth, so that more people know what we have in our houses? With so many expensive 'toys' on display in the shops, on TV and hoardings, in papers and magazines, it is not easy to accept the fact that they are beyond one's reach. That these are not necessities but luxuries that can be done without no matter what one's friends or neighbors might have.

It also seems to me that the whole 'climate' of honesty/dishonesty has changed and this is how, I think, it has happened. In the past, looting was part of a soldier's pay, quite likely the only pay he got. Even in the First World War a soldier's pay was not much and he was inclined to supplement it in whatever way he could; and here his uniform anonymity was in his favor. Items could go missing and be blamed on war damage or loss. this was even more apparent in the second World War: goods were 'liberated' and 're-deployed' on an unheard of scale and no one seemed to really object. |There was a good market and no questions asked for whatever became available from whomever had items to offer. After the war, while there was still rationing, the same black market applied and I think it has continued thus up to the present time. The things that 'fall off the back of a lorry' and are sold cheaply; the overload of work the police have to contend with (which means much petty crime just doesn't get investigated); the general attitude of acceptance, all conspire to make honesty less attractive. The small instances of dishonesty get passed over and ignored, the large instances of dishonesty get a lot of publicity some time after the crime was done and the punishment is very often meagre. The sheer volume of delinquency super-saturates our senses and begins to wash over us unregarded, so that we become numbed by it all: if you're struggling for your life in the sea, which wavelet do you attempt to survive first?

It makes me wonder if honesty is the best policy В but if it isn't, what is going to happen to us all В especially the youngsters who will be the parents of the following generations? Is it possible that they have the right attitude to honesty? Has my upbringing been wrong for this time in our evolution? Honestly, what do you think?

Essay on Learning Styles

Essay on Learning Styles

People are different. No two people think or reason the same as anyone else. Just as people are different, their styles of learning are different. Every individual needs to experiment to find the learning style that works best. Just as each person needs to find their own learning style, they also need to know what style does not work. Some students are more able to retain more information if they study first thing in the morning. These people are definitely early birds. On the other hand, some people prefer to study in the evenings; these people we call owls. Some people prefer to watch television or listen to the radio while they study, while others need complete silence to concentrate. There are so many different ways to help retain information. For some people it helps to write everything down, while others learn better by listening to the information read to them. Whatever the personal learning style, once the one that works is found, success in school should follow.

Our Service Can Write a Custom Essay on Learning Styles
for You!

My personal learning style tends to lean towards the "hands on" approach. I have always tended to retain more information if I actually do the task that is assigned. I have taken a lot of classes through the military. The military's style of teaching is "see one, do one, teach one." I tend to thrive on this type of approach to teaching and learning. If I can get my hands on it and try the task, it helps me to understand how it works. I want you to show me. I do well in classes that have slides, power points and other visual aids. To see the information and ask questions based on my observations is the best approach for me.

One of the weaknesses I run into with this style of learning is an instructor who approaches learning as "read it in the book" and then test on the material. Unfortunately, this tends to be the most used learning style with traditional colleges. I have had lots of trouble in traditional style classes. I tend to put off reading until the last minute, if I do it at all. I feel like I am wasting my time with traditional classes.

I also need complete silence to concentrate and comprehend what I am reading. This is a problem at home because I have a husband and two children, which is the same as having three children. It always amazes me that I can be reading a book or typing a paper and my husband talks to me and asks me questions as if I am not doing anything. I try to do all of my schoolwork after 10:00 PM. Everyone is asleep, the house is quiet and no one will bother me. I guess that qualifies me as an owl. I definitely study much better at night.

I also tend to be very impatient. This is a big drawback in the learning process. Most traditional schools have classes two to three times a week for a whole semester. This, absolutely, drives me insane. I lose patience and end up dropping the class. I think the University of Phoenix matches perfectly with my personal learning style. I am only required to take one class at a time. I can fully concentrate on one subject without distractions. The classes only last five weeks then I can move on. There is not enough time for me to get bored or impatient. I think the University of Phoenix is going to be a great learning experience for me.

So, no matter what your personal style tends to be, there is school out there that will meet your personal needs. Whether you prefer the traditional style or the condensed.

Classes at the University of Phoenix, once you find the right style for you, you cannot lose.

Gianni Versace Essay

Gianni Versace Essay

Art excited Gianni Versace. He responded as a connoisseur, enthusiast, collector and designer. From among all the roles he took in relation to art, Versace the disgner was the most well known and stimulated by art.

While Versace's historical episodes depended on a respect for art history, the specific interest in collecting and his fascination of art came from artists such as Gustav Klimt, Robert Delaunay, Alexander Calder, Andy Warhol and Jim Dine. When Versace was challenged by one of the artists he adored and whose motifs he used in his works, Versace replied that art was for everyone, for sharing, and for the lengthening of pleasure. His views on art were evident in his works and his life through his keen sense of collaboration with ballet and opera and his profound gratitude to the image-makers that led him to support photographic exhibitions and publications.

If Versace were to be placed in a frame, I would put him in the cultural frame, as much of his designs he follows and abides by his beliefs and culture. There are even times where he includes Mary into his designs, however with some of his works, he could fall into the post-modern frame. For example, his plastic couture dress he created as plastic was an unrefined material in the 1960's not to be used for ready to wear garments.

Economic Data
Ownership
The Versace Empire is a family owned business. Until Gianni's death, he held the position himself of a director, where his sister Donnatella Versace served as a vice president and was also in charge of the Versace distribution concepts. Gianni Versace began to reconstruct to company organization short before his death in 1997- it was planned to offer 25%-30% of the company assets at the stock market, and even though Gianni has passed away now, his plans are still being followed today.

Performance
In the beginning, in 1978 the Versace business accounted for roughly $15million of total sales. This number shot through to $353 million in ten years time and continued to rise in the many years that passed them by where in 1996, the figure rose to $1065 million. 80% of the sales were made outside of Italy surprisingly as shown in the diagram below.

Distribution
The introduction of the Versus collection to the New York designer shows in 1995 marked the beginning of a great expansion of the North American business for Versace. This move was accomplished by the opening of various new stores and malls in America.

Outlook
In Harper's Bazaar's of July 1977, an advertisement proclaims "Gianni and Milan. Here and very now. . . A total extravagance." Versace was, as always designing the most confident clothing of his time.

Although Versace became internationally pre-eminent as the designer of shameless sexuality, combined with a strong sense of personal grace, he still remained very much a great Italian designer. He was true to the materials of his culture. His design of the gladiator boots in the 1990's were not a malicious misogyny as some stated, but were a means of entering Roman history and romance- of being part of the historical novel of the Roman world in which women seized real power from men.

Versace's designs for men in leather are not typical where they are bikers, bar-boys are "Village People": they are models of epic masculinity where his metallic colours used come out of his fanatical classicism reinforced by his abiding sense of the colourful pageantry of the Renaissance. His Atelier Versace woman's ensemble of full studded motorcycle jacket worn over a studded silk crepe blouson top and pleated skirt was accompanied by large metallic belts and collars. In the era where women seeked urbane armour, Versace created a symbol of authority that is also stylish. In fact, you could say that what he created was a sensual contemporary woman, who despite wearing a short skirt had the powerful authority as the menswear did.

The male counterpart to the Atelier line wore a black leather outfit. The Versace man, similarly to the Versace woman, was presented as exquisitely sexy in clothing. Versace's simple philosophy in which he believes in is the reason why others may not recognise the sensibility of his work I believe, meaning when Versace is minimal, his reduction is forced to the public eye.

Silk was another essential in Versace's works. Although he may have splashed silk with South Beach motifs, Pop art graphics and other contemporary colour schemes, he was aware of its fundamental value and its ability to convey rich colour on a flexible field.

The Italian Renaissance was not only an archetype of fashion for Versace, but also a model for life. He aspired to Medici aesthetics, where his synthesis was not only in clothing with distinct colours, but also in his intellectual cultivation of a neo-Platonism. His ever-present Medusa is not a label in the fashion sense, but a sign of the Renaissance tradition. He understood quite clearly that fashion operated from a visual pleasure, where with the combination of luxury and utility, made clothing both beautiful and practical.

To the vocabulary of sportswear Versace brought the rhetorical flourish of sex: loose pyjamas, tight cigarette pants, leggings etc. Colour and pattern were hallmarks of his achievements, where as a colourist was unafraid to try different things and experiment with many materials. The fact is, anyone who dared to wear his designs, were in danger if being over-the-top and overdressed, but he knew- like any great artist- that pleasure resided in aesthetic risks and new fashion existed only by a dint if aesthetic innovation. Thus, Versace's supposedly wild aspect was not a teasing lack of discrimination, but rather a determination that pushed fashion towards the new and adventuresome.

He also made apparent that he dignified to contemporary culture, and never conformed to traditional fashion etiquette, preferring the appreciation of the culture at the time. This gave his works an urgent connection between people and his designs, which is what today's fashion may be lacking.

Sample Essay on My Autobiography

My Autobiography Essay Example

I was born in Atlanta, GA to a 15-year old mother and a 23-year old father. Both of my parents were obviously very young when they had me - my dad said I was almost not here. My mother's grandmother tried to make her abort me because she did not like my father. But my mother did not listen because she was in love with my father. My mother was an alcoholic and so was my dad - both of them had lost their mothers at a young age. Daddy's mother left him when he was only three months old and mommy watched her mother's murdered body bleed to death when she was 13yrs old.

Eventually my mother learned to cope with the fact that her mother was not alive without being dependent on alcohol, however my father never got over his mother leaving him and for that reason he also started doing drugs. So needless to say I grew up in a dysfunctional family.

We always moved from house to house to house because my dad could not keep the rent paid for his drinking and drug problems. Not only that, I also had two younger sisters and two younger brothers he had to take care of. My father was very verbally and emotionally abusive to every one in the house including my mother because he stayed intoxicated. In October of 1991, we moved to Atlanta, GA in hopes of finding utopia but only found a better life full of the same dysfunction.

My parents kept jobs and we always had a car and a roof over our heads which was more than we could say about the life we left behind in Buffalo. But my dad was still drinking and doing drugs and being abusive due to his soon to be clinically diagnosed depression. So my idea was to leave home as soon as possible by going to college away from home. That never happened because in January of 1997, the year I graduated from high school, my dad broke his leg and could not work, plus my little sister Darlene was just born. My mother had to go back to work and I had to be the live in nanny for the first four years of her life. But the experience was good for me because it allowed me to truly appreciate being able to go to college and discover a love for Interior Design and the Arts.

I started going to AIU in Buckhead in the summer of 2002 and I have been there since. All of my siblings and I are pretty normal for the experience we went through and none of us have been in jail or in trouble with the law. We are all pretty smart streetwise and academically. But all of us except for Darlene have communication and emotional issues. Like me for example, I used to have trouble expressing myself or talking about my feelings and I still sometimes shy away from emotional conflict. I always think someone is out to hurt me or manipulate me because of how my dad treated us when we were growing up. My fathers condition is improving though and there are less arguments and bouts with drugs and alcohol abuse. He has finally recognized the impact of his actions toward himself and his family. And I have learned how to communicate and try not to be so cynical. I am also engaged to be married this fall to a wonderful non-abusive man. So I think that by the grace of God my siblings and I will all make it and will do better than our parents did in our decision making processes. Also, the experience has taught me to be more sensitive to the emotional needs of others and not to be so judgmental because you never know what a person has to go home to everyday.
