Essay on Game of Thrones

There is hardly a person who has not heard about Game of Thrones. This American TV series has conquered the world and attracts audience of different age and preferences. In brief, Game of Thrones is an adaptation of fantasy novels written by G. Martin. The original name of this series is A Song of Ice and Fire. The screen version holds the name of the first novel of this series of books called A Game of Thrones. Game of Thrones was created for HBO and its first episode was launched on April, 2011. Due to professionalism and creativity of two executive producers David Benioff and D. Weiss this TV show has obtained its universal fame.

The plot of Game of Thrones is quite complicated and intricate. It is impossible to predict any further step and action of the main characters of this series. Everybody knows that G. Martin has created his own fantasy world and placed it into the pages of his novels. This fictitious world consists of a huge continent Westeros divided into seven powerful kingdoms. Every kingdom has its own ruler who dreams to conquer the whole Westeros. It is easy to predict that every kingdom has its special characteristic features. It has its original and authentic culture, traditions, style of life and ethnical background. However, all people understand one another and can speak a common language.

Moreover, there are free lands and cities that are not influenced by the king of Westeros. They maintain economic relations, trade and peace between each other. It is possible to say that all connections and political relations are based on money. No wonder, House of Lannisters is the most influential family in Westeros, because their wealth is enormous. In spite of the fact that Game of Thrones is a fantasy show, it looks like a historic novel. G. Martin pays much attention to the precise facts, history and authenticity of his world. Consequently, you believe that all events could have happened in reality if there were no fantasy elements in the plot of this novel.

When one speaks about Game of Thrones, he imagines its intricate plot. It is hard to learn about the representatives of every House, because every family is very big. Every House has its distinct place in this novel. They fight, cooperate, trade, respect and hate one another. It is impossible to define the real friend in this cruel, avid and merciless game. It is interesting to observe behavior and psychological development of such characters as Lord Baelish and Varys. They improve the plot with their unpredictable decisions and sharp mind. One can be impressed by the wit and erudition of Tyrion Lannister, who has become the most favorite character due to his sense of humor and intelligence. Alongside with intellectual jokes one can observe scenes of battles, beautiful sceneries and medieval atmosphere. When you are a keen fan of knights, witchcraft and dragons, you will enjoy this TV show at once. You will definitely like Jon Snow, Daenerys Targaryen, Bronn, Sandor Clegane, Robb Stark and Stannis Baratheon when you enjoy battles and action.

The only negative side of this TV show is death of your favorite characters. On the other hand, this feature keeps the audience in constant tension and adds realism into the plot. In conclusion, one can say that Game of Thrones is one of the most successful and provocative TV shows of this genre.
