There is so much dishonesty occurring everywhere in society. As a student, plagiarism is a very important issue to me. Because of students in the past who have plagiarized, teachers are punishing everyone. Instead of allowing students to chose their own topics of interest to write an essay on, they are forced to write about a chosen topic which may be difficult to relate to. Teachers chose topics where its difficult to find exactly what information is needed. Students must work harder to find the information needed from more resources than necessary. This causes us to waste a large amount of time doing extra work.
Also another issue regarding dishonesty is fake advertisements. For example, an advertisement may preview a movie and give it excellent reviews. There would be reviews im magazines and commercials which capture the viewers attention. Its a real disappointment after watching a movie that was not was at all what you had expected it to be.
Another example of dishonesty is stealing. This is why prices of products are so high at times. Businesses need to replace the stolen merchandise by raising the prices. This is unfair to everyone especially those who have never stolen before. Insurance prices increase and people begin to lose their trust in society. They feel unsafe to leave their belongings even in their own homes.
I think that if everyone in society was honest, there wouldn't be as many problems occurring today. The true meaning of honesty needs to be understood and followed through. From all this dishonesty occurring around us, it really makes you wonder how honest our society really is.
